Located in the south of the Province in the heart of Granadas Costa Tropical 100km from Granada City and a very short distance from the coast.
The municipality of Gualchos possesses two population centres, Gualchos itself and the small village of Castell Ferro. Both localities have a long recorded history. Artifacts have been found dating back to 3,000BC when Neolithic tribes first settled the area.
As with most small inland towns in this area the main economic activities are agriculture based. The town itself is made up of small white-washed houses typical of the style of architecture throughout this particular area while the surrounding coutryside is rugged and mountainous. Throughout the municipality there are numerous small population centres comprising small estates grouped around a central farm or cortijo.
