<font class="content">Are there any genealogists out there?

One of my main hobbies in the UK is studying my family history. In this age of the computer, more and more can be done on the internet, but one still has to go to local archive offices, family history centres and libraries to get information that has not yet (and is unlikely to) get on the internet.

Are there any LDS (Latter Day Saints) family history centres in Almeria/Granada that anyone knows of, or indeed any other form of resource for the family historian?

And don't forget...genealogists don't die, they just lose their census!</font>

No, not a member (far from it really), but Latter Day saints are "duty-bound" to trace their family history, so your friend would hopefully know where a family history centre is...where they allow us atheists to do some research. However its something I won't be taking up again until we are living out there full time.</font>

<font class="content">Casafruitas,

I made attempts to track my familly history with no success whatsoever. Used all the major web sites. One obstacle I had is no documentation or specific information about any ancestors.

I have just received from a distant cousin an outline of my familly tree dating back to 1795 in Norfolk. Seems like I may be legitimate after all. icon_smile.gif

The outline needs completing with a lot of specifics but it definitely gives me some good information. It has provided me with renewed enthusiasm.

<font class="content">Casafruitas,
I am new to the Forum and I have just read your thread. I am very interested in Genealogy as my late father was a professional genealogist and there is always someone in every generation of my family who shares that interest. Consequently, I have a huge family tree; however, for just one person doing all the work there is a lot of research to be done.Anyway, it is very interesting and rewarding when you find all those relatives you did not know about...
I do not think that you will find any Mormon Family Research Centre in Granada or Almería; however there are some interesting Web sites which could help you in your research:

www.ancestorhunt.com/mormon_church_records.htm

www.cyndislist.com/lds.htm#FHC2

Good luck icon_biggrin.gif

Best regards,

Paloma</font>
