Hello everybody
Please can somebody help my friend. Here is her story: My friend found a poorly dog in the area that she lives in. The dog was close to deaths door and against all her husbands wishes (demands) she took it home. She really brought it back to life again! well, the dog was so grateful she suddenly delivered 7 puppies...you can imagine my friends husband at this stage...after nearly a year she is struggling with these 7 puppies as she has been unable to home them. They are adorable not your average little spanish dog probably the size of spaniel. There are 4 females and 3 males. The problem that she is facing now is that she may lose her home as she lives in a terrace and the noise of these dogs are causing a concern to the neighbours. She has asked advice and help from apsa but they have turned their back on her and she does not have the money to have these dogs put to sleep (not that she could find it in her heart to do such a thing), her health is also taking a toll for the worst and she is in a desperate state.
I know that there are a million stray dogs looking for a home in Spain but this is such a sad and terrible situation this lady is having to deal with.
If anybody would like photo´s of any of these dogs please feel free to pm me with an email address and i will happily to send them to you.
Where abouts is your friend, might be worth finding the local dogs home and hand them over, they do not keep them until homes are found but at least it will be someone else's problem, and you never know they might be rehomed.
My friend lives near Tijola. We have tried all the dog homes but they just would not take them. The private ones only have a small area for non paying visitors. They have posted flyers just about everywhere they could of pictures of the pups. She is so desperate now and really does not know what to do next.
This is really the only way and of course a lot of praying. I really feel for her situation as she really had no idea that all this would blow back in her face for doing a good deed!
Sorry dont know where that is but there is an animal rescue at El Ejido on the main motorway probably miles or should I kms away from you and I know they take in animals. This is the Autovia del mediterraneo
Good luck vivb do let me know how she gets on, must be awful being a dog lover myself so I can appreciate to some extent how she is feeling.
I ended up keeping mum and 4 kittens here all got nutered and the vet did me a deal 5 for the price of 3 no kidding, worth haggling . They do all live outside though I may add.

Hi, just seen your posts and would like any help or advice I can get. There is a young dog running around the outskirts of the our village (Freila) that looks like an escapee from a concentration camp. I have tried to catch him but have only ended up just leaving food out for him. He is terrified.
I deperately need to find a rescue place to at least help catch him and if he is fit enough find a home for him. He may have mange or it could just be 'living rough' that gives him that appearance. If anyone nearby would help me catch him, I would be prepared to get him to a vet and possibly more - I already have 5 dogs and 7 cats so it would not be an easy task to keep him. Any suggestions please!
There has always been a major problem with stray dogs and cats in Spain. If you just leave food near your house and place it a little closer each time the dog may start to be a little less nervous and you may then be able to catch it. At this moment if the dog is a little nervous trying to catch him will make things worse.
There are places like Apsa and Paws who could give you more information but to be quite honest i wouldn´t hold your breath as they are not taking in anymore dogs/cats and would only give you advise and not help in anyway. I believe that their first intentions were good but they seem to have lost interest in helping, even though they are receiving a lot of money through donations!
I wish you luck just as my friend needs it now with 7 one year old pups, which apsa and paws refused to help her in anyway whatsoever so she was left stranded with these pups.
Thanks for your quick reply. I also tried APSA but they said they were too far away - like your friend, I am just outside Baza.
The dog is not near the house, it is about 3km away near a very busy road otherwise it wouldn't be so difficult. I will do my best for him, but I cannot believe how difficult it is to get information and help.
If anyone else who knows of animal rescue places anywhere in Spain, please reply and I will endeavour to create a site with full listings and post a link to these pages. This is quite a common problem and even the rescue centres don't seem to know of others in different areas - you would think a modicum of co-operation between them would be useful.
Again, thanks for your reply and I will keep you posted.
Yes i totally agree, you would have thought that there would be some sort of listing of all dog/cat rescue centers.
I know from my own experiences how difficult it is to get help/advise with these issues. I have over the years rescued many stray dogs and then re-homed them successfully (not something i would like to take up full time).
Have you spoken with some of your neighbour´s? Maybe some of them would help you try and catch the little one.
I wish you luck and i know only too well how difficult it is to watch these poor little souls struggle, coming from a home of dog breeders..
