We did take early retirement more than three years ago, it is so cheap to live out here, wish we could have done it earlier if it has not been for the Equitable fiasco we would have done.

I think anyone who needs to work when the come over must do plenty of homework, bar work is long hours as the bars stay open until the last person goes home etc etc. Working in the campo is very little money, so learn the language and a skill then think about the move.

Really good comments. We have been contemplating moving permanently for several years, however covering living expenses without some form of additional income would be a problem. We have considered buying holiday rental property (but considered it a bit risky with potential for high expenses and low returns) and several other business ideas. Problem is that I am not getting any younger (retire myself in 5 yrs), so anything we do has to work first time as I have no time to start over if the first venture fails. As I am short term contracts at the moment it gives me the flexibility to work in the UK then spend up to 4-6 weeks away between contracts, so that is what we are doing at the moment. icon_smile.gif
