Im trying to book a 7.5 ton truck full of furniture etc on to a ferry (P&O) for early Sep, and have only succeeded in having my phone number taken by an operator on a Spanish number, and being told that if I am lucky I will get a call back 10 days before the sailing to confirm. They have taken no name, address, credit card details etc and I need to co-ordinate the move from a furnished to unfurnished apartment. Apparently as its 8m long it has to go through the freight booking system and this seems to be totally casual compared with the usual car / passenger booking system. Also, even more scary, I need to be sure that I have a booking to get the wagon, my son & his friend who is driving back in time to get back to work in UK.

Anyone else out there got any experience with freight bookings / had this experience / got any tips, please, as Im worried I am in the wrong process here?

Normal practice for freight trucks (semi's and such) is to have the paperwork in order BEFORE you arrive at the ferry point.

It sounds to me like you did not reach the correct person, as ferry companies tend to like freight trucks, they make more money on them than regular passangers (normally).

Call P&O and ask them to put you in touch with the person that does freight booking for trucks.

Normally freight companies have standing arrangements, so independants have to jump through the hoops.

If P&O have a booking office where you live (now) or reasnobly close by, then stop by it and talk to them, if they can't help you they will definatly know someone that does.
