Located in the north of the province a little way off the E-902 this small town is 45km from Granada City.
Artifacts and remains have been found in the area dating as far back as the Bronze Age and its known that both the Romans and the Arabs occupied the area.
This is a very small town and is typical of the towns found in rural southern Spain being made up of white-washed houses and narrow streets and the main economic activity is agriculture and crop cultivation. The view of Pinar is dominated by the now ruined castle that sits high on a hill overlooking the town.
