Covering an area over 52,000 hectacres the park contains peaks reaching over 2,000m in height. This protected area offers much in the way of outdoor pursuits for the more active or simply allows the less active to enjoy an unspoilt landscape of outstanding natural beauty.
The terrain is made up of deep gullies, numerous brooks and, ofcourse the mountains which give the park its name. Among the local wildlife to be found are the Golden and Egyptian eagle.
Within the parks boundaries there are two campsites, four recreational areas and a wide range of sign-posted walks and hiking routes.
