Located in the north-east of the Province just off the A-92N. Granada City lies 110km to the west and the neighbouring town of Baza is a short drive south.
The towns origins are believed to be Roman, later being occupied by the Arabs up until the Catholic Reconquest during the 15th Century.
Despite Zujar being a growing, modern town there are still many areas made up of cave houses, possibly built during the 16th Century by the Moriscos.
As with many towns in this particular area Zujar is becoming a more popular tourist destination thanks to the local countryside and the oppurtunities it provides for enjoying outdoor activities. The Sierra de Baza Natural Park is very close by and for those seeking an alternative to the more crowded coastal areas there is Lake Negratin and all it has to offer.
Zujar is one of the many towns & cities in the beautiful region of Granada Spain. Discover Granada Costa Tropical with the history, local information, property sales and holiday listings at Viva-Granada.com
